About Ensemble

Ensemble for folk dances and songs "Jonce Hristovski"- Skopje was founded in December 2002 by a group of enthusiasts and lovers of Macedonian folklore in order to foster, promote and present the Macedonian folklore and folk traditions expressed through folk dances, songs, costumes and folk instruments.

The ensemble is named after the great artist of the Macedonian song and dance Jonce Hristovski which left deep traces in the Macedonian folklore with his songs and choreographies.


The ensemble is comprised of approximately 150 children and adolescents divided into three groups, the smallest group in which members are children aged 7-10 years, middle group that comprised children aged 10-16 years and adult group in which members are youth aged 16-24 years. Within the ensemble works and folk orchestra made up of 10 members.


From its establishment until today Ensemble has participated in numerous cultural events in the country and abroad and has established cooperation with numerous organizations in the country and abroad.


The ensemble is internationally active and each year takes part in several festivals around Europe. Ensemble during its existence has participated in many international folk festivals in France, Croatia, Turkey, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Italy and others, where their high artistic presentation caused a large interest and attention.

Second international folklore festival
